SPOTLIGHT: Oregon’s Sustainable Coastal Tourism and Outdoor Recreation program

Oregon Sea Grant's Sustainable Coastal Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Program works with communities and companies to help them utilize a triple bottom line operational framework to help them, and their communities succeed.

Oregon State University Extension offers a Sustainable Coastal Tourism & Outdoor Recreation program that provides applied research for communities and businesses, direct business training, and advising and consultations with community organizations, businesses and individuals. Generally, these services are free or low cost. They work with convention and visitor bureaus, hotels, tour operators, fishing guides, conservation organizations, government agencies, non-profits, etc.

The Sea Grant Tourism Program offers workshops to individuals interested in starting a tourism business, community representatives interested in utilizing and/or improving the impacts of tourism in their community (especially nature-based/outdoor recreation focused tourism), volunteers, forestry, farm and ranch owners interested in guest operations (Agritourism), agency staff Interested in public visitation/tourism programming and management.
